January 28 13 050-1Round and ’round,
Mother’s blessing goes ’round,
‘Round the world, around, around.
‘Round and ’round,
Mother’s blessing goes ’round,
‘Round the world, around.
Twisting strands of love and union
Into Life, eternal blessed.

Mother’s hand is on the spindle,
Turning us to peace and rest.

Debra, founder and president of Motherhouse, learned this song from Laurel Green at summer camp. The repetitious use of the word “round” mimics the whir of a treadle-powered spinning wheel. Largely by teaching the people of India to spin and create their own textiles, Mahatma Gandhi led a non-violent revolution for independence. Read a blog report of our latest Wool Gathering where Tal taught us the basics of spinning. Meditation and yoga are other ways to develop love and union, peace and rest. Motherhouse offers weekly opportunities for both.
