Board of Directors2016-01-09T14:52:27+00:00

Debra Tyler is founding mother and now Director of Motherhouse, Inc. She is also the chief cow-hand at Local Farm, a small raw milk dairy in Cornwall Bridge, CT.

A charter member of our board, Nita Colgate is always available to lend a hand with the Motherhouse Bookshelf in the Cornwall Free Library’s Children’s Room.

Karen Doeblin learned early on she wanted to live someplace beautiful and that she needed open space. Now she roams between NYC where she worked in a day school green house, and Cornwall where she helps her son train a handy steer at Local Farm.  Even though she and husband Rob have six children, she quips, “I finally understood people when I got to know these cows”.

Motherhouse Secretary, Iris Hermann is an eighth generation Cornwall resident who lives alongside a waterfall with her partner, Rocco, and their daughter, Ivy June. Iris works as an organic vegetable farmer on Ridgway Farm. She tends children of all ages, is a licensed Massage Therapist and serves as a Cornwall EMT. Iris also runs a small crocheting business; Crazy Cave Creations! She adores cooking up vegetarian recipes and aspires to running a dog-powered organic farm.

President Margaret Hopkins is Debra’s right-hand (wo)man and one of the driving forces behind Camp Eureka.

Watercolorist and craftswoman, Jean Tyler, moved from Wisconsin to Connecticut in 2009 to be nearer her daughter and grand-daughter.  As a member of the Motherhouse board of directors, she does a handsome job of leadership based on old-style common sense and wisdom.
